Upper School
With a premium placed on study in depth, our curriculum is rooted in the belief that a good liberal arts education adapted to the modern world is the best preparation for college and a lifetime of learning. Students develop a solid foundation in English, mathematics, history, science, and at least one foreign language, and may emphasize areas of particular interest. Opportunities for interdisciplinary and collaborative work abound.

Nightingale's extensive extracurricular programs include athletics, music, and the arts, and a variety of community service and social activities undertaken with other New York schools and institutions. Through their participation, students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and share their interests with each other and the community at large. Throughout it all, the strength of Nightingale's individualized faculty advising program ensures that students receive regular support and guidance from an involved and caring faculty who know them well.
How to Apply
REQUEST ADMISSIONS MATERIALS
The first step in the admissions process is to fill out our Online Inquiry form. Once we receive your inquiry, we will send you our admissions materials.
SUBMIT APPLICATION
Click here to submit the parent portion of the online application, and here to submit the student portion. Please note that the parent portion of the application must be submitted FIRST in order to schedule appointments. The student application does not have to be submitted in order to book an appointment. Both applications must be submitted by December 15, 2012.
APPOINTMENTS TO VISIT THE SCHOOL
Once we receive the online application, the admissions office will contact you within one week of submission to schedule interviews for you and your daughter. We will begin to schedule appointments the day after Labor Day. You and your daughter will tour the school and have an interview with a member of the admissions office. Candidates will return for placement work in math, English, and a foreign language, if applicable.
SCHEDULE TO TAKE THE ISEE OR SSAT EXAMINATION
Contact the Educational Records Bureau to arrange a test date. Visit the ERB Web site at www.erblearn.org. You may also call ERB directly at 212-672-9800. For the SSAT exam, please visit www.ssat.org. The ISEE or SSAT exam is required for all applicants applying to Classes V–XI. Be sure to request that the test results be sent to Nightingale.
REQUEST SCHOOL RECORDS
Request that your daughter's current school send school records for the previous two academic years as well as this year's fall report directly to Nightingale. The Request for School Records form is available on the first page of the InfoSnap online application. Download that form and give it to your daughter's school.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Request recommendations from your daughter's math and English teachers. You have the option of using Infosnap to submit electronic versions of the recommendations to your teachers. More information on how to submit these electronically can be found on the opening page of the online application via InfoSnap. Note: there is NO fee for using this feature. If you prefer, you may download a PDF of the recommendation forms by clicking here.
All applicants are asked to refrain from submitting additional personal letters of recommendation.
