Welcome from the Athletic Director

At Nightingale, we believe that interscholastic athletics are a vital part of the total educational experience. Athletics are an extension of the classroom where girls cultivate skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, risk-taking, resilience and confidence. These qualities will help our students to achieve success throughout their lives. Through the collaborative and competitive nature of sports, our students are encouraged to strive to reach their full potential and pursue levels of achievement they may have not thought possible.

The Nightingale athletic program provides our athletes numerous opportunities to grow and develop at age appropriate levels. Our comprehensive physical education and athletic programs stress the importance of physical fitness and instill a lifelong appreciation of healthy activity. Each student can find her place in our athletic program from the novice to advanced athlete.

Nightingale is a proud member of the AAIS (Athletic Association of Independent Schools) of NYC. We compete in cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, indoor track, swimming, badminton, lacrosse, softball, tennis and track and field. Our Varsity teams are complemented by JV, 7th and 8th and 5th and 6th grade teams. A complete listing of teams is available on this website. I invite you to explore each of our competitive programs that we offer, and be sure to visit our site often for the latest updates and events.
