this event has been postponed until further notice. thank you for your understanding, and Please check back for updates.

Nightingale parents, students, faculty, and staff are invited to an energizing evening of movement and inspiration with celebrated dance legend Pierre Dulaine and Parents of CAFE!

Mr. Dulaine—an internationally renowned performer and teacher—is the founder of Dancing Classrooms, a dynamic program that builds social awareness, confidence, and self-esteem in young people through ballroom dance. His pioneering program was featured in the award-winning documentary Mad Hot Ballroom, and his compelling life story as a dance educator and innovator is the subject of the 2006 film Take the Lead, starring Antonio Banderas. He most recently traveled to Jaffa, Israel to put his groundbreaking program into play, creating connections between Jewish and Palestinian children through dance. His fascinating experiences in the Middle East have been chronicled in a documentary entitled Dancing in Jaffa.

During his special CAFE presentation, Mr. Dulaine will share stories and film clips from Dancing in Jaffa, followed by an opportunity for audience participation as he gives participants an experiential sense of Dancing Classrooms—in short, there will be dancing! The program is one not to be missed, and we look forward to seeing you next Thursday!

Thank you to all who joined us for this year's C.A.F.E. Cultural Night! The evening was a lively celebration of our diverse heritage and the moving performances showcased the incredible range of talent that exists in our community. We'd like to express our gratitude to everyone who shared a piece of their own history by contributing a dish, a skill, or a presentation—this beloved event would not be what it is without you. Cultural Awareness for Everyone (C.A.F.E.) was established to recognize and to celebrate the differences within the Nightingale community. C.A.F.E. was not founded as an affinity or support group. Our mission is to educate the Nightingale community as well as to create a forum for discussion of contemporary issues of equity and justice including, but not limited to, topics of gender, race, religion, and socioeconomic status. We strive to accomplish this charge through weekly meetings where we discuss these issues as they appear within and outside of the Nightingale community. Each year C.A.F.E. hosts several in-house events and encourages community involvement with groups outside of school.
