Giving

Why do you give?
Everyone in our community has different reasons for giving back, but whatever your reasons, we are so grateful to all of you who have given of your time and money. Our community has shown incredible generosity over the years and—while we face increasing pressures—it is through your support that we remain able to offer such a rigorous and caring academic environment.
Thank you—I look forward to working with you as we continue building upon this great tradition of giving.

Note on methodology
For the last several years, we have been working hard to update our alumnae contact information so that we might stay in better touch with our alumnae. As part of this outreach effort, we have also broadened the solicitation net to include every living alumna, and not simply those with a robust donation record, in order to provide everyone with an opportunity to support the school financially.
As a result of our efforts, we are happy to report a record number of donations to the Alumnae Fund in the 2011–2012 fiscal year! This is a testament to the commitment of our alumnae to Nightingale-Bamford and we couldn't be happier about this level of giving. As our outreach expanded, however, so did the number of alumnae who were asked to give; even with an increase in the total number of gifts, then, the percentage that we list in the annual report is lower than last year. This drop in percentage belies the incredible growth of Nightingale's Alumnae Fund, and we look forward to growing it even further in the years ahead.
If you have any questions about the Alumnae Fund or how we measure participation, please contact Amanda Goodwin, director of alumnae relations, at agoodwin@nightingale.org or (212) 933-6508.
Luscinia society
In 1989, we founded the Luscinia Society to recognize the generosity of alumnae, parents, and friends who have established planned gifts with Nightingale. A bequest of any size qualifies a donor for membership in the Luscinia Society. If you would like to arrange a planned gift with Nightingale, please call Sue Mathews, director of institutional advancement, at (212) 933-6505 or e-mail her at smathews@nightingale.org.
