Ms. Nancy Wheeler Appointed New Middle School Dean of Students

Kitty Gordan, acting head of school, has announced the appointment of Ms. Nancy Wheeler as Nightingale's new Middle School Dean of Students, effective this fall.

Since arriving at Nightingale almost two years ago, Ms. Wheeler has distinguished herself as an integral member of the English Department, an exceptional Middle and Upper School homeroom teacher and advisor, and the coordinator of new faculty. During the search process, students and faculty alike noted her warmth, her open mind, her attention to detail, her energy and enthusiasm, and her commitment to Middle School girls on both an academic and a personal level. In the words of a Nightingale student, “[Ms. Wheeler] has always been there for both me and my classmates, inside and outside of the classroom.”

Following an extensive search, Ms. Wheeler emerged as the unanimous choice of the search committee, comprised of mathematics faculty member Gordon Blyth, Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist Annette Rodriguez, Modern Languages faculty member Hernán Sánchez, Benefits Administrator Kate Totino, Director of Middle and Upper School Counseling Rebecca Urciuoli, English faculty member Brad Whitehurst, and Head of Middle School Noni Thomas.

Upon Ms. Wheeler's appointment, Ms. Thomas ardently declared, "We are absolutely thrilled to have [her] join the Middle School administrative team as we work together to continue to support students and faculty on the sixth floor."
