Varsity Cross Country Wins the AAIS League Championship!

The Nighthawk varsity cross country runners continued their fabulous season with a first place finish at the AAIS League Championship meet on Monday, November 7, in Van Cortlandt Park.

The win was a true team effort, with medals earned by every runner and new personal bests set by both Sasha Whittle ’13 and Isabella Beroutsos ’15, who deserves special kudos for competing despite having woken up sick that morning! Congratulations to all of the Nighthawks for their fabulous finishes: Sasha Whittle ’13 (4th), Emma Chesley ’14 (7th), Isabella Beroutsos ’15 (11th), Stephanie Wisowaty ‘ 12 (12th), Sarah Van der Elst ‘12 (13th), Katie Lin ’12 (16th), and Sarah McGowan ’12 (25th).

The JV runners ran their own race alongside the varsity runners and showed that the future is bright for cross country at Nightingale. Congratulations to Rebecca Lin ’15 for placing first in that race, and to Sarah Adelman ’15 and Olivia Stovicek ’13 for their strong showings.

The varsity runners will return to Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday, November 12, to compete in the NYSAIS Championships. Good luck to all of them!
