Museum Mile Explorations: Class V Visits the Museum of the City of New York

MARCH 7, 2024

In celebration of Black History Month, Class V’s February journey took them a few blocks north to the Museum of the City of New York. Upon arrival, students were split into groups to focus on two separate themes relating to Black History. In both sessions, students learned about influential Black people who shaped New York in a myriad of ways as well as Black movements that changed New York’s history and shaped New York’s culture such as abolitionism, the Civil Rights Movement, and Black Lives Matter. Once students were settled back into their homerooms, each group had the opportunity to teach the other group about what they learned.
