The Nightingale-Bamford School
The Nightingale-Bamford School has announced plans to launch the Nightingale-Bamford School Summer Academy in June 2017. The program will grow over three to four summers toward the goal of offering two-week institutes on finance, leadership, engineering, and entrepreneurship, as well as longer immersion programs in the arts, writing, math, science, and language. The program will begin with two co-ed, one-week debate institutes, as well as the existing two-week Training in Biotechnology program, which will now be offered under the Summer Academy umbrella.
The program is intended to be intellectual in nature rather than remedial, and it will offer Nightingale students and their peers from other schools the opportunity to develop knowledge in areas that are not part of a usual middle or secondary school program while also offering a template of liberal arts classes. Some programming (such as debate and biotech) will be co-ed, and some (such as leadership programming being planned for summer 2018) will be just for girls.
