Student Technology

All students in Classes III–XII receive an iPad or Chromebook as one of the many tools they use for note-taking, organization, and individualized learning. The 1:1 device program fosters innovation, collaboration, connection, and efficiency in every class and throughout the schoolhouse. Additional details regarding student technology in each division are below.

Nightingale is transitioning from a 1:1 iPad program to a 1:1 Chromebook program in Lower School and Middle School starting in fall 2019.

Lower School

Chromebook Cart

Lower School students have access to a set of Chromebook laptops, which are used with both classroom teachers and technology specialists. This model is designed to create a strong foundation for the Middle and Upper School.

iPads

Students in Kindergarten–Class II have access to a shared iPad cart, which is used in various subject areas with both classroom teachers and technology specialists.

Starting in Class III, students become part of the 1:1 device program.

Middle School

1:1 Device Program

The 1:1 device program is continued from Lower School.

Students in Classes VII and VIII have the option of bringing their own laptop to school.

MacBook Air/Chromebook Cart

Faculty members in Middle School have access to a classroom set of MacBook Airs or Chromebook laptops to use with students in whole class or small group settings.
 

Upper School

1:1 Environment: iPad and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

The 1:1 environment is continued from the Middle School years; students are given the option to use an iPad, their laptop, or both.
