Class IV Visits Fraunces Tavern Museum
This month, Class IV visited Fraunces Tavern, an American Revolutionary–era building in lower Manhattan that served as a center of Patriot activity in New York. During the trip, students toured the historic Long Room, where George Washington bid farewell to his officers in 1783. They also examined Continental Army flags and studied paintings that highlighted the contributions of not only soldiers, but also women—such as the Molly Pitchers—and children who served as drummer boys. Students rounded out the experience by analyzing artifacts and exploring replicas to learn more about daily life in the 1700s.
