From Student to Lifesaver

On Saturday, December 13, The CPR Project launched its very first workshop in the Nightingale library, and it was such a special day. Spots filled up quickly, and 30 students spent five hours earning their American Heart Association Heartsaver K-12 CPR, First Aid, and AED certification with three wonderful instructors from EMC CPR & Safety Training LLC.

These newly certified students can now:

  • Recognize the signs of a heart attack and cardiac arrest

  • Check responsiveness and call 911 effectively

  • Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, including rescue breaths using masks

  • Use an AED quickly and correctly

  • Help someone who is choking

  • Control severe bleeding, pack major wounds, and apply tourniquets

  • Respond to cuts, burns, allergic reactions, and other common emergencies

  • Stay calm, communicate clearly, and work together in an emergency

We were so proud to see everyone give up part of their weekend to learn skills that could truly save someone’s life.*
