Nightingale was delighted to welcome Dr. Juliette Wells, Jane Austen scholar and professor of literary studies at Goucher College, to the Schoolhouse.

Dr. Wells visited several classes, including Ms. Hiland’s Advanced English course, Heroines, where students explore questions such as: What does heroism look like in literature? How does it take shape when the protagonists are women?

During a special lunchtime conversation, students discussed Pride and Prejudice and explored Austen’s life, writing, and lasting literary impact.
