Practicing Vocabulary in Chinese III

Class IX and Class XI students in Chinese III typically have four assigned vocabulary words between each class, known as shēngcí, and are challenged to write them from memory (along with the meaning and the pronunciation in pīnyīn with tones). After a warm up activity with some chatting and questions, Modern Languages Department Chair Mr. Klikunas quizzed students on their assigned characters. Students were then tasked with each taking a turn to write their vocabulary words on a whiteboard. In that moment, students are evaluated on whether or not they're using the correct stroke order in writing the characters, as well as whether there's anything else that they should tweak to make them right.

In this class, the specific characters on the board are 比 (bǐ, a word used to make comparisons), 天 (tiān, meaning sky—or a day—and used in the word for weather), and 雪 (xuě, snow), which are all from the first unit about weather and comparisons.
