Reading Comprehension with Fundations

Kindergarten students are building their reading comprehension skills through interactive lessons in Fundations, the reading program they use during the first part of the year. In a recent lesson, students revisited a story they had heard the previous week, this time watching their teacher act it out using an owl puppet without any spoken words. By recognizing the puppet’s movements, students recalled the story and inferred what was happening. Several students then had the opportunity to retell the story in their own words as the puppet acted it out, strengthening their ability to recall key details, make inferences, and communicate their understanding.
