Varsity Cross Country Concludes Dominant Season, Sending Two to Federations
The varsity cross country team had a memorable fall season. Week after week, they showed up ready to compete, and it paid off with strong invitational results and two runners, Ashi B. '26 and Alexa C. '27, securing spots at the New York State Federation Championships. The team had 16 athletes this year, including two Class VIII students, and established itself as one of the toughest in the AAIS.
One of the early highlights came at the Six Flags Invitational. The team faced schools from four states and a field of more than 160 runners, and came away with five individual medals. Ashi led the charge with a ninth place finish. A week later at the Manhattan Invitational, facing another big field of runners from across New York State, they added four more individual medals—another sign that this group was consistently performing at a high level.
At the AAIS Championships, the Nighthawks took second overall. Ashi placed first overall, making her the league's fastest runner this fall. Alexa finished right behind in fifth and Ella D. '27 placed eleventh.
The momentum continued into NYSAIS, where they competed against 26 of the strongest independent schools in the state. The team finished fifth overall. Ashi placed third and Alexa seventh, both athletes qualifying for the New York State Federation Championships.
