Parents Association
Welcome to the Parents Association
Welcome to the home of the Parents Association. Every parent at Nightingale is a member of the Parents Association, and we hope that you will find ways to get involved. Below is information about the PA and our role within the Nightingale community.
Mission
The mission of The Nightingale-Bamford School Parents Association is to live our school’s values of truth, friendship, and loyalty by promoting a school community that is connected, inclusive, and engaged. Through volunteer opportunities and school-wide events, we seek to make the Nightingale experience as great for parents as it is for students.
Who We Are
The PA officers oversee the entire Parents Association and work with the class representatives, inclusivity and community engagement representatives, and event chairs to carry out the PA's mission.
2022–2023 PA Officers
President Shannon Siegfried, P’29
Vice President Maleha Haroon, P’22,P’24,P’28
Secretary/Treasurer Nita Varia, P’30
Class Representatives
Class representatives are dedicated to keeping the parent body connected and informed about school events and policies. They fill the critical role of liaison between their class and the Nightingale administration. They should be your first stop anytime you have a question or concern, as they are familiar with school policies and procedures and can address many issues that arise. Each class has three reps. You should expect to hear from them fairly regularly, as they send out email reminders of upcoming events and coordinate a variety of class-wide communications.
Inclusivity & Community Engagement Representatives
The inclusivity and community engagement representatives help to further the 2017 strategic plan goal to "find ways to welcome and engage all parents, paying special attention to new parents in all three divisions." In partnership with the PA and Director of Diversity and Equity Johara Sealy, the inclusivity and community engagement reps work to foster an inclusive community of empathy, respect, and unity throughout the school, and to leverage the multiplicity of voices and experiences among our parent body to enhance the sense of belonging throughout our community. The 2021–2022 diversity, equity, and inclusivity reps are Tibisay Salerno-Jones P'26, Maximo "Luis" Vargas P'31, P’33, Aparna Kaul P’23, Torrey Pierce, P’26, P’29, James Mallios P’31, and Lisa Rubin P’32.
Event Chairs
Event chairs work with the PA officers to organize the numerous events that connect and entertain our community during the school year.
Supporting the event chairs are hundreds of parent volunteers whose talent, creativity and generosity are invaluable to every Nightingale event’s success. We encourage and welcome every parent to participate. Throughout the school year, there are numerous volunteer opportunities for parents to be involved.
