Off to the... Reading Olympics!
A group of 14 students from Class V–VI competed in the first annual Reading Olympics Competition!Throughout the school year, the reading olympics team met regularly to discuss books from a curated list of 25 titles. Students were only required to read one book to participate, but many went above and beyond—some reading as many as 23 books! The new program was established in collaboration with Spence and Sacred Heart, and is modeled after the successful program of the same name in Pennsylvania.
This year-long reading effort culminated in an in-person competition at Spence. Students from Nightingale, Spence, and Sacred Heart came together to answer trivia questions about the books. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore new stories, engage in thoughtful discussions, and enjoy some friendly competition.
“I'm thrilled to share that...Nightingale won!” Middle School Librarian Tina Chesterman shared. “They proudly brought home their very own bookworm-themed trophy and some 'aesthetic' bookish stickers. Congratulations to the entire reading olympics team!”
