Shapes and Pathways in Kindergarten Dance

Building upon their previous class, which focused on expanding use of space and movement shapes, Kindergarten dancers recently began to also focus on developing shapes and pathways. In this particular lesson, students were completing the focus standards of Performing and Creating: Performing (A): making body shapes using lines and levels, and Creating (B): exploring a variety of locomotor and non-locomotor movements in response to the environment and themes.

This focus allows students to deepen their understanding of how movement can communicate ideas while also strengthening their spatial awareness and creative expression. The captured moment reflects their exploration of both shape-making and moving through pathways in the space.
