This year's track and field season was one for the books! This is the first time since the year 2000 that varsity track and field took home the title of AAIS Champions, making this the second time in Nightingale history.

In a down-to-the-wire finish, the team clinched the championship title with a final score of 141 points. The lead bounced back and forth all day, and after winning the 4X400m relay, the Nighthawks trailed by just 1.25 points heading into the final event, the triple jump. That’s when Jada C. '25 stole first place on her last jump, with Aurelia V-M. '29 delivering her best of the day to help outscore Spence 13 to 6 and seal the win. This was a total team victory.

The team finished an impressive second at NYSAIS for the second year in a row. Standout performances included Jada C. winning both the high jump and long jump, breaking her own school record with a jump of 17' 5.75", and also placing fourth in the 100m hurdles. Ashi B. '26 won the 1500m and took second in the 800m, while the 4x800m (Emma D. '26, Audrey P. '26, Alexa C. '27, Lennon C. '29) and 4x400m (Eleanor K. '25, Amehlia A. '25, Ashi, Vivian Y. '26) relays both placed second. Several athletes hit personal records, including Aurelia in the long jump, Ella D. '27 in the steeplechase, and both McLane B. '28 and Mia D. '28 in the 400m hurdles. Overall, a strong team showing across the board!

This season, the team had two new school records and reclaimed five existing records:

• 100m Hurdles: 15.95 Jada

• Long Jump: 17' 5.75" Jada

• High Jump: 5'4" Jada

• Triple Jump: 35' 2.5" Jada

• 3000m: 11:00.85 Alexa

• Discus: 76' 1.5" Nola S. '26

• 4x800m Relay: 9:51.05 Ashi, Lennon, Audrey, Emma

Six athletes are moving on to compete in States (June 13–14 in Middletown, NY):

• Ashi in the 800m and the 1500m

• Jada in the long jump and the high jump

• The 4x800m relay team hit the second place standard qualifying time earlier in the season, and by placing second at NYSAIS, they earned a spot to compete: Emma, Audrey, Alexa, and Lennon.
